First Lady Commends Businessman Ham Kiggundu on Nakivubo Stadium Revamp

The First lady / Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, has commended Hamis Kiggundu, a businessman, for his efforts in upgrading Nakivubo war memorial Stadium to contemporary standards.

She expressed pride on behalf of the NRM government in witnessing the initiative of young individuals contributing to Uganda's development through projects like Nakivubo Stadium. She extended congratulations to Ham Kiggundu for his outstanding work.

The stadium, with a seating capacity of 35,000, will host various sports activities including athletics, netball, and bodybuilding.

Uganda, along with Kenya and Tanzania, secured the bid to host the 2027 AFCON, with Nakivubo Stadium designated as one of the tournament venues.

Hamis Kiggundu, the businessman behind the project, dismissed critics who lacked understanding of the venture. He highlighted the prevalence of negativity among some individuals, attributing it to ignorance or malice. Kiggundu emphasized his commitment to the project, valued at shs54 billion, despite distractions.
