Finance Trust Bank Injects Ugx 2 Billion in FUFA Women’s Leagues
Finance Trust Bank has announced a UGX 2 billion sponsorship deal with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), aimed at bolstering women’s football in Uganda.
This significant investment will support both the FUFA Women’s Super League and the Elite League.
The sponsorship includes a direct investment of UGX 1.7 billion over the next four years, translating to UGX 350 million annually, with the remaining funds allocated for sponsorship activation initiatives.
Ms. Annet Nakawunde Mulindwa, Managing Director of Finance Trust Bank, expressed her excitement about the partnership, highlighting the bank’s long-standing dedication to advancing women’s achievements.
“We are thrilled to extend our support to women’s sports,” Ms. Mulindwa declared. “This two billion shilling sponsorship of the FUFA Women’s Football program marks a pivotal moment in our journey.”
FUFA President, Hon. Eng. Magogo Moses, welcomed the collaboration as a testament to the success of the women’s football development program in Uganda.
He noted the country’s rising prominence in women’s football within the CECAFA region and underscored the goal of elevating Ugandan women’s football to the continental and global stage.
“Uganda has emerged as a powerhouse in women’s football within the CECAFA region thanks to years of dedicated investment,” said Magogo.
“Our ambitions reach far beyond regional dominance. With the combined support of the Ugandan government and esteemed corporate sponsors like Finance Trust Bank, we believe Ugandan women footballers have the potential to compete and win at the World Cup level.”
The partnership will position Finance Trust Bank as the title sponsor for both the Finance Trust Women’s Super League and the Finance Trust Women’s Elite League. The upcoming 2024/25 season for both leagues is set to commence in late September 2024.
