Over shs 228 billion disbursed to Emyooga Saccos countrywide.

The Microfinance support center(MSC) that was established in 2001 was designed to provide micro-finance services to the rural poor in line with the Uganda Poverty Eradication Action Plan of 1996 and it has carried on the objectives of the project among which is to facilitate access to affordable financial services.
According to Masika, the MSC Deputy Director, the support center in the last 20years has delivered capacity building and cheap micro-credit to qualifying Ugandans through a branch network of 12 zones, 4 satellite offices and their agents located in every district of the country.
‘The Micro-finance center gradually expanded its client base and target sectors to ensure more categories of Ugandans were included on the journey to a market-led economy’’ she added emphasizing that currently the support center extends financing to groups of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Village savings and Loans Associations and cooperatives plus the Islamic Microfinance in Uganda that to date has total investments amounting to Ush.82billion.
Government of Uganda entrusted the Microfinance Support Center in 2019 with the Presidential Initiative on Job and Wealth Creation Program known as (Emyooga) to further strengthen its mandate by absorbing more financially excluded Ugandans and over 600 billion has been invested in creating opportunities and increasing household incomes for millions of Ugandans by government.
Emyooga a local Runyankole dialect meaning specialized enterprises was launched by President Museveni in August 2019 at his nationwide wealth creation tour with an aim of transforming Ugandans into the money economy.
The state Minister for Microfinance Haruna Kyeyune is the current supervisor of this project thats is directly implemented by RDC’S, RCC’S, DCDO’s, CAO’S.
Starting April to September 2022 , the Microfinance support center will conduct anniversary barazas in every region to showcase their 20years contribution and a number of social responsibility activities will be conducted plus recognition of clients who have been exemplary in the utilization of funds extended to them.
At the beginning of 2022, the Support Center commissioned a training of trainers program across the country with an aim of strengthening management capacities of SACCO and Association leaders.
