HRH The Duke of Edinburgh Visits Uganda to Promote Non-Formal Education and Youth Empowerment
His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, has arrived in Uganda for a three-day visit aimed at promoting the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (DofE) and highlighting the transformative power of non-formal education for young people and their communities.
The Duke of Edinburgh, interacted with participants and key stakeholders of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award in Uganda earlier when he arrived into the country.
He also held a special meeting with the president of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Museveni who commended his great works.
"The social linkages leading to the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, which he is here to see, are a commendable show of discipline and deep care for humanity, a cause I have accepted to patron, as per His Royal Highness’ request. I welcome him." Museveni said in a tweet.
During his stay, The Duke will engage with Ugandan youth leaders and visit schools and education centers to witness firsthand the impact of non-formal education initiatives.
His itinerary includes meetings with young innovators driving change in areas such as information technology, climate action, female empowerment, and entrepreneurship.
The visit will not only seek to raise awareness of the DofE program but also aims to inspire and empower young Ugandans to pursue their passions and contribute positively to society.
