Museveni Appoints Abbas Byakagaba as New IGP to Replace Okoth Ochola

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Abbas Byakagaba as the new Inspector General of the Uganda Police Force.

Byakagaba, who brings extensive experience in human resources and counter-terrorism, takes over from the outgoing IGP JM Okoth Ochola

Byakagaba's career within the Uganda Police Force has been distinguished by his roles as Director in Charge of Human Resources and Director of the Counter-Terrorism Police. 

Byakagaba will be supported by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) James Ochaya, who steps in as the Deputy Inspector General. Ochaya replaces Maj Gen Geoffrey Katsigazi.
