NUP President Bobi Wine Graduates with a Bachelors of Law from Cavendish University
Cavendish University Uganda is holding its 13th graduation ceremony today August 8th, welcoming Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, widely known as Bobi Wine, to its alumni community.
Bobi Wine, the former presidential candidate and president of the National Unity Platform, will be among the graduates, having completed a Bachelor of Laws degree.
Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister for Information and Communication Technology, will preside over the ceremony as the chief guest.
The event will also be graced by the presence of the former President of Nigeria, Jonathan Goodluck, who serves as the current Chancellor of the University.
During a media briefing at the university headquarters in Kampala, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Dr. Olive Sabiti, commended Bobi Wine's academic journey.
"Kyagulanyi has been an exemplary student throughout his studies," she noted.
"His background in entertainment brought a unique and engaging dynamic to his interactions with classmates. If he had not met the rigorous academic standards set by the university, he would not be graduating."
Reflecting on his academic journey, Bobi Wine shared his gratitude and the challenges he faced.
"In August 2016, after much procrastination, I attended my first lecture in Law School at the International University of East Africa. Seven years later, I have graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Cavendish University," he shared on his Facebook page.
He acknowledged the support from friends, family, and fellow students, highlighting the encouragement he received from key figures like Sylver Kyagulanyi, Don Sheriff, David Lewis Rubongoya, and his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi.
Bobi Wine also addressed the obstacles he encountered, including a delay in his graduation due to missed lectures and subsequent re-attendance.
"To those who always mocked my academic qualifications, you pushed me to pursue this course," Bobi Wine remarked.
"Thank you, and I hope you will now get something better to talk about."
Bobi wine hopes his journey will inspire others to pursue their dreams regardless of the challenges.
"You're never too late to pursue your dreams and achieve them," he encouraged.
