Sigh of relief as Government launches distribution of Foot and Mouth disease vaccines.
For over 2 years now, several farmers in western Uganda have been battling the disease which prompted a ban on the sale and distribution of animals and animals products in affected districts.

Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister for Agriculture,Animal husbandry and Fisheries alongside several members of parliaments has launched the distribution of 500,000 dozes of Foot and Mouth disease vaccines at the National Animal Disease Diagnostics & Epidemiology Centre ( NADDEC) to District Veterinary Officers from affected districts.
while launching the distribution, Tumwebaze appealed to the veterinary officers to fight against theft & diversion of the vaccines.
The team used the opportunity to tour the NADDEC animal National Labaratories where all animal samples across the country are brought.
He noted with concern the need to upgrade infrastructure, technology & expansion aimed at establishment of zonal laboratories with equivalent testing capacities.
