While on a private tour to the source of the Nile in Jinja, Her excellency Natalie E. Brown met a team of Uganda Tourism Board members who are on 4 day inspiration and fact finding tour aimed at ascertaining the State of Tourism facilities in Eastern Uganda.
Coincidentally the team lead by the Board chairperson Daudi Migereko and his vice Canon Susan Muhwezi met with the US Ambassador to Uganda at the source of the Nile accompanied by her body guards as she took personal photographs of the beautiful waters of the nile at the source.

Natalie ‘The pandemic has limited my ability to get out, but I am so appreciative of such opportunities to move around, on earth day in April I visited Murchison falls National Park, it was life charging to see the wild life and also to meet the communities living near the park and have conversations with them about how to protect and safe guard the richness and biodiversity Uganda has’ H.E Natalie said

The UTB tour kicked off at Mabira forest , where they inspected the newly set up road side mobile culinary facility and wash rooms meant for travelers crossing through the magnificent Mabira rain forest .

They then proceeded to the Source of the Nile to check the state of Tourism facilities, readiness of local investors and recovery strategies in place as the country opens up again after the second wave lockdown.
The source of the Nile is a small spot along the shoreline of lake victoria in Jinja which marks the place where John Speke allegedly “discovered” the Nile’s headwaters at Lake Victoria.
The UTB board was welcomed by the Jinja town Clerk, Daniel Kaweesi, who says the board already has provisions in place to revamp the sector .
The UTB board chairman Daudi Migereko believes with increased vaccination globally, Tourism is yet to fully take off.
He says hotels they have ensured hotels put proper standard operating procedures as they wait for a stimulus package from government to help revamp the industry.
Tourism is the country’s most important export product generating over 940 million USD and employs over 270,000 people directly and around 400,000 people indirectly accounting for about 6.7% of total national employment.
