Use of Clean energy technologies will improve Uganda’s health and education sector - Government .

Ministry of Energy says health facilities located in areas where the national grid doesn’t reach are still compromised in service delivery due to lack of sustainable energy yet they are at the fore front in serving communities .

Vian Musika, from the Ministry of Energy now advocates for the use of improved clean energy services which assure quality health care services especially in Health Center III across the country.

Musika further said, improve clean energy is also good for education if learning centers especially in hard to reach areas embrace renewable energy use like solar

‘’This renewable energy transition agenda is also going to create jobs for the youth’’ Musika added emphasizing the great advantage of fully migrating to renewable energy.

This during the  Capacity Building Webinar on Renewable Energy and Climate Change organized to exchange ideas and prepare minds in relations to migration to use of renewable energy by 2050 as one of the 2015 Paris Agreement agendas.

Masika also noted that this is not a simple task, but there is  determination to work with government, civil societies, academia and private sector on this agenda .

‘’We have discussed and talked for long, so this is the time to take necessary actions and ensure that we are on truck for Uganda’s sustainable renewable transition’’ he added.

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics estimates the country’s population to over 44 million people currently and according to Vian, this can help in being a model country in Africa as far as the transition of renewable energy is concerned.

In his submission, Mike Ahimbisibwe an official from the Ministry of Energy renewable energy department said as Africa hosts the COP summit this year, this renewable energy transition will also impact in mitigating climate change which is the summit’s main agenda and there is need for Uganda to take a lead in this transition.

Ahimbisibwe also noted that the Ministry is currently forming a national renewable energy platform with an aim of re-aligning policy and financing to support renewable energy in the country with hopes that the end results will build the country’s position on curbing climate change through energy utilizations.
