3rd Uganda-EU Business Forum Unveiled
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been designated as the principal attendee at the upcoming 3rd Uganda-European Union Business Forum scheduled for March 5 – 7, 2024, in Kampala.
The announcement came from Investment Minister Evelyn Anite during a press conference held in Kampala on Tuesday.
Themed "Boosting trade and investments: What can Uganda gain from the global gateway?", the Third Uganda-European Union Business Forum 2024 aims to explore strategies for Uganda to enhance the value of its products, thereby increasing export opportunities to the EU.
Minister Anite emphasized the importance of adding value to exports, highlighting Uganda's transition from exporting raw materials to value-added products. She expressed satisfaction that the EU is championing the call for value addition.
EU Ambassador Jan Sadek, also speaking at the press conference, underscored the objective of the Uganda-EU Business Forum to enhance economic relations, encourage private investment, and foster trade between Uganda and the EU.
Sadek highlighted the significant role of EU investments in Uganda, constituting 45% of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2019. He emphasized the impressive growth in trade between Uganda and the European Union, with exports totaling 800m Euro from Uganda to the EU, and EU exports amounting to 700m Euro, reflecting a robust trade relationship.
