Cigarette filters causing climate change- UNEP

Cigarette filters break into smaller plastic pieces leaching out some of the 7000 chemicals contained in a single cigarette.

‘’It’s just one cigarette.” said 7 billion people.

This is easy to say when relaxing on a beach, but what happens when you take a CLOSER LOOK?

Cigarette butts contain filters that are composed of thousands of cellulose acetate fibres. Those never disappear from our environment.

The microplastics from these cigarettes accumulate at the bottom of the ocean.

These are absorbed or eaten by animals and then make their way up the food chain into humans.

Plastic should not be ingested by wildlife.
