The first ever Mr & Miss Ability Uganda Confidence Building Pageant empowering people living with disabilities (special needs)

Themed “Empowering Unique Abilities,” the crowning ceremony was graced by The Cabinet Minister for Gender, Labor and social Services Hon Betty Amongi, Hon Hellen Grace Asamo, the Minister of State for Disability Affairs, Hon Mpindi Bumaali, Hon Kanushu Laura, Hon Acan Joyce among others On Wednesday 1st December at Kampala Sheraton Hotel.

Nanyanzi Irene and Ocira Richard take the title of Mr and Miss Ability Uganda ! Congratulations to the winners.

OCIRA RICHARD won as the Mr Ability Uganda 2021

Richard is a passionate basketball player and technician.

NANYANZI IRYNE wins the Miss Ability Uganda 2021.

Nanyanzi is a multi talented actress,dancer and a sweet girl.

Honorable Minister Betty Amongi Akena for Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development  while crowning Mr And Miss Ability Queen and King encouraged young people living with disabilities to be so innovative since a platform is already set for them which has not been the case in the past.

She also emphasized the government involvement in supporting causes like Mr. And Miss Ability.

During her speech The Minister of State for Disability Hon. Asamo Hellen Grace while crowning the regional winners of Mr And Miss Ability 2021 encouraged the organizers and sponsors/partners of the event to keep the candle lighting for the empowerment of persons with disabilities and she committed her self that she will be always supportive.

In the support she said if she committees, that means the government has committed it's self for that cause.

There was a highlight in the show when the Ministers joined each other to show the world that they too can dance and show there abilities.

“I was not born like this, it was due to an accident that am like this. but I don't live in my past. I look forward to my future.I want to thank all the organizers for providing this platform to us the disabled people and I ask them to allow young people like me to also take part.”
