Ministry of Public Service Announces Validation Dates for Public Officers

The Ministry of Public Service has announced the commencement of validation dates for Public Officers who missed the verification exercise conducted by the Auditor General last year, 2023.

Addressing the media on the extraction of workers from the payroll, Hon. Mary Mugasa Akiiki, the Minister of State for Public Service, unveiled the schedule for validating Public Officers who were either absent during the verification, partially verified, or on official duty, study, or sick leave.

The validation exercise is slated to run from March 11th to May 17th, 2024, on weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The venue for the exercise is the National Archives and Records Centre (NARC) in Kampala, located next to the Ministry of Health Headquarters on Lourdel Road.

According to Mugasa, affected Public Officers are required to appear on the specified dates allocated against their respective Votes.

The schedules detailing these dates are available on the public service website, publicservice.go.ug, or can be obtained from the Offices of the Responsible Officers.

In her address, Mugasa disclosed that out of the 338,966 Public Officers in Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Local Governments, who utilize either the payroll managed by the Ministry of Public Service or their own payroll systems, all were fully verified and recommended for retention on the payroll.

Additionally, 24,757 Public Officers from various entities were partially verified and recommended for temporary retention on the payroll. Furthermore, 1,886 Public Officers from Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Local Governments were accounted for as officially absent but were not verified during the exercise.
