Museveni launches Explore Uganda campaign

While speaking at the launch of the “Pearl of Africa” brand today in Kololo, President Museveni identified the ten points that make Uganda terrain and urged Ugandans to embrace what they have and not just change rationally to the conducts and cultures of the west.

According to the President, the fact that Uganda is located on the Equator, its blessed with good weather, vegetation wildlife the fresh water bodies and many others.

“This only justifies the richness of this land and there is no need to copy other cultures since Africa for the the last 4.5million years had the original human beings” Museveni added emphasizing that even the nature of our Health, Infrastructures, Peace are also special aspects that attracts explorers here.

Colonel Tom Butime the Minister of Tourism in Uganda thanked the president for gracing the ceremony and explained that this launch is a trigger to restarting and rebuilding the Uganda tourism sector that has been hit by the Covid19 pandemic that has affected the world at large.

“Tourism was the leading contributor to the country’s GDP with a 7.7 percentage contribution and also a 6.3 percentage of all the country’s formal employment before covid19” the Minister added.

According to Hon. Butime, behind this launch there is a committee consisting members like Mr. Bitature Patrick, Hon. Daudi Migereko that is committed to increase the number of tourists, manage the financial budget, expand the brand and also reach out to all stakeholders to fully participate in the business.

Lilly Ajarova the Chief Executive Director Uganda Tourism Board urged Ugandans to make it a point to explore their country and added that their five A’s as the Tourism board makes it a business of every one to involve in it.

Attractions, accessibility, accommodation, Amenities and awareness are the 5A’s according to Lilly that will expand the brand and start off the rebuilding process of the Industry after the pandemic.

The launch of the Pearl of Africa brand was aimed at reshaping and rebuilding Uganda’s right full place at the market because of its rank on the list of top ten countries at the Fauna& Flora international  globally.

The launch was graced by other dignitaries including the Vice President Hon. Jesica Alupo, first Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali, Finance Minister Hon. Matia Kasaija and ambassador's of Italy, Saudi Arabia, Germany among others
