President Museveni Urges Leaders to Prioritize Household Income Generation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called upon leaders across all levels to champion the cause of household income generation, stressing its pivotal role in community upliftment.

Accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataha Museveni, the President hosted a group of exemplary farmers from Gomba and Sembabule Districts.

President Museveni highlighted the success of the Greater Kisozi Model Villages project initiated in 2011, where households in nine villages were provided with cows, goats, coffee seedlings, pigs, and monetary assistance to combat poverty and enhance livelihoods.

Reflecting on his longstanding efforts to mobilize Ugandans towards wealth creation, the President reminisced about his early campaigns against poverty dating back to the 1960s, particularly in the Ankole region.

He emphasized empowering communities through modern farming techniques and entrepreneurship.

Museveni reiterated his commitment to supporting project beneficiaries and ensuring sustained progress.

He encouraged farmers to embrace the four-acre model of farming, emphasizing the diversification of agricultural activities for optimal results.

Ms. Sarah Nalwanga, the Project Coordinator, praised the scheme's impact, citing significant increases in household assets and agricultural productivity.

With over 2,000 households benefiting from the project, Nalwanga emphasized its focus on home improvement, food security, income-generating activities, value addition, and SACCO support to empower communities sustainably.

Members of Parliament from Gomba and Sembabule Districts expressed gratitude for President Museveni's visionary leadership and pledged to mobilize communities to embrace government programs aimed at poverty alleviation, such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga.

Beneficiaries of the project shared their success stories, highlighting the transformative impact of the initiative on their lives. From increased agricultural productivity to improved standards of living, residents expressed their gratitude to President Museveni for the opportunities provided.

The meeting was attended by key government officials including the Minister of State for the youth and children and the head of the Office of the National Chairman-NRM.
