Breaking News: Minister of Labour Charles Okello Engola shot dead by bodyguard
The Minister of state for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Col (rtd) Charles Okello Engola hwho has been shot dead.

The Minister of state for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Col (rtd) Charles Okello Engola has been shot dead. The incident happened in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb.

The incident is believed to have happened at about 9a.m. It is said that the late minister first had a misunderstanding with his bodyguard who then opened fire at him shooting him multiple times that instantly took his life.

It is also said that the bodyguard after shooting the minister, also shot at his other bodyguard leaving him in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses say the shooter attached to UPDF after shooting the minister, ran off while shooting in air and on ground saying I have no problem with anyone but I only need my pay, people scattered to save their dear lives

It is said that the bodyguard ran to a nearby saloon where he shot himself dead.

The crime incidence has been cordoned off.

The minister of state Betty Amongi is one of the first officials who came to the crime scene to establish what happened to his subordinate

Forensic team as well as security officials have cordoned off the crime scene so as to to kick off investigations into the matter as we await official details.

Brief about the late

He was born to Chief (Jago) Nasan Engola and Ketula Engola of Awangi, in Iceme, Oyam district.

Charles Okello-Engola was also the grandson of Rwot Olong Adilo, and also great grandson of Rwot Olwa Abelli of Iceme.

He was appointed to the position of minister of state for defense on 6 June 2016, replacing General Jeje Odongo, who was appointed Cabinet Minister of Internal Affairs.
