No Way Through Murchison Falls N.P Past 7pm - Says UWA
As the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) implements the closure of Karuma Bridge for rehabilitation works, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has issued important guidelines for travelers utilizing the alternative route through Murchison Falls National Park. These guidelines aim to ensure the safety of both visitors and wildlife within the park premises.
Bashir Hangi, UWA's manager of communication and public relations, emphasized the significance of adhering to regulations, particularly regarding time management.
"We urge all motorists to plan their journeys accordingly to ensure compliance with park opening and closing hours," Hangi stated.
According to the guidelines, Murchison Falls National Park operates from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Motorists are advised to schedule their travels within this timeframe to avoid any inconvenience. "No exceptions will be made in respect to park opening and closing hours," Hangi added.
In addition to observing park operating hours, travelers are reminded to adhere to other regulations, including paying entrance fees, maintaining designated speed limits, refraining from littering, avoiding unnecessary stops, and respecting restricted driving areas.
These measures are crucial to preserving the natural environment and ensuring the safety of wildlife and visitors alike.
"It is for the safety of travellers that they dont go through Murhison Falls National Park at night. Most animals hide during the day and move at night. The risk of knocking them is high and this could result into fatalities. Plan your journey well & use the road during day time" He added.
