Unknown people wear UPDF uniforms to disrupt operation Shuja against ADF in DRC
The Uganda Peoples Defense Forces and Forces Armees De La Repablique Democratique Du Congo issued a joint statement on the 10th of January reassuring the public that the two forces will not be destructed from their mission of definitively neutralizing the enemy in the Eastern part of Democratic Republic of Congo.
In late November 2021, the UPDF launched an operation called SHUJA in the Eastern part of DRC aimed at destroying and neutralizing the Allied Democratic Forces that bombed Uganda’s capital in the twin explosives on the 16th November 2021 that injured citizens and killed civilians.
According to the statement, a commercial truck carrying assorted goods on 6th January was intercepted by customs officers in Butembo and on inspection of the cargo inside the truck, officers discovered clothing similar to the UPDF uniform a vicious mission plotted at sparking and promoting hostility towards the forces among the public they have been mandated to protect.
The statement added that, by wearing the Army uniforms and insignia, the members of this group plan to resort this subterfuge to camouflage themselves to be able to go on an atrocious rampage to wreck un-scalable havoc including massacres to badly injure the image of the UPDF.
From the critical information gathered by both Army forces, there is an armed group harboring these sinister clandestine plans deliberately intended to sabotage this joint Military action against the ADF but they affirmed that they are not accepting them to interfere in the population which welcomed them since their launch of operations against the enemies of peace.
The forces confirmed that the commercial truck, its handlers and cargo are all still held at the customs office in Butembo and also affirmed that in the conduct of all their operations to restore Peace, Security and State Authority they respect Human Rights, International law, Humanitarian Aid and Rules of Engagement.
