PPDA to educate citizens about Public Procurement and Disposal of public Assets Authority processes
While launching the PPDA business exposition 2022 at the media center in Kampala on Monday, the Executive Director PPDA Benson Turamye said the goal of the expo is for the public to understand the systems and processes by PPDA aimed at delivering effectiveprocurement.
According toTuramye this can easily be accessed through allowing companies within Uganda to exhibit, collaborate and grow together.
“This expos will also serve as an opportunity for government agencies to showcase their achievements and accountability to the population” Benson added.
This business exposition that was designed to contribute to economic growth, connect businesses to effective procurement systems and also supporting local SME’s will also provide companies with a unique platform to inform, educate and networking with various stakeholders.
Government of Uganda annually spends up to 60% of its budget on public procurement of a vast range of goods, services, supplies and works which makes this expo a desirable marketplace for any provider looking for new business opportunities and also assisting them to tap into opportunities that public procurement offers to accelerate recovery from the socio-economic impact of the covid19 pandemic.
This expo that is scheduled for 8th-10th July 2022 at Kololo independence grounds will also feature the PPDA annual awards categories and also the unveiling of the annual procurement plan (July 2022- July 2023).
This platform will aggregate entities in the private and corporate sectors, multi-national agencies, government ministries, departments and agencies plus the general public hence a benefit to all stakeholders.
In addition, the expo is to also offer an opportunity to suppliers to engage with key personnel and organizations that contribute to public procurement as most of these officers are expected to be in attendance on all the three days of the exposition.
Mr. Agaba Moses the CEO Fathil International projects limited (FIPRO) also noted that the expo is aimed at promoting local content and adding value to everybody through networking and expert trainings.
“We shall have exhibitors from sectors like tourism, construction, agriculture and also media services and exhibition space shall range from UGX3million- UGX500,000 such that no one is left behind” Agabaadded.
