Gov't to Crack Down on Illegal Citizenship Activities

In a bid to uphold the integrity of Uganda's citizenship and immigration laws, authorities are intensifying efforts to combat illegal attempts to obtain Ugandan citizenship and travel documents.

Recently, the Uganda Citizenship and Immigration Control department flagged a case involving Nkubito Sam, who attempted to obtain a Ugandan passport using an illegal Ugandan National ID.

Investigations revealed that Sam, originally identified by his Rwandan National ID during travel checks, raised suspicions when attempting to secure Ugandan citizenship documents contrary to legal procedures.

Such cases highlight ongoing challenges posed by individuals attempting to fraudulently obtain Ugandan citizenship for illicit purposes.

"We are committed to safeguarding the legal framework governing citizenship and immigration," said Simon Mundeyi, spokesperson of Uganda Citizenship and Immigration Control department.

"Illegal attempts to procure Ugandan citizenship undermine national security and must be met with stringent legal action."

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant against scams and illicit activities related to citizenship and travel document fraud.

They emphasize the importance of adhering to legal procedures outlined in the Constitution and Citizenship and Immigration Control Act to obtain Ugandan citizenship legitimately.

"We encourage citizens to report any suspicious activities related to citizenship fraud," added the spokesperson. "Our collaborative efforts with security agencies aim to dismantle criminal networks exploiting Uganda's citizenship for unlawful activities."

As investigations into Nkubito Sam's case continue, authorities remain vigilant in preserving the integrity of Uganda's citizenship processes, ensuring that only qualified individuals who meet legal criteria receive citizenship and associated travel documents
