The Kayunga by-election also being the first of this kind since the general election held in February 2021 has been a tense election with many factors and violence marred in it.
The NRM party chairman who is also the president of Uganda Yoweri Museveni was also on the ground to campaign for their cadre together with the prime minister Hon. Robinah Nabbanja as various camps also invested more resources in this election.
In his first speech after his declaration, chairman elect Muwonge Andrew thanked his party chairman, the party secretariat, district executive and the people of Kayunga for the victory and called upon unity for the success and development of their district.
The National Unity Platform principle Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi who was also recently barred from campaigning for his candidate expressed anger on his twitter page after the declarations claiming that this was broad day light robbery over their candidate victory.
He added that the signed DR forms give a 15,000 votes lead to their candidate Harriet which clearly shows that their victory has been just rigged.
