Ugandan sprinter Tarsis Orogot Orogot left the crowd awestruck as he shattered his own 200m National Record at the SEC Championship held in Gainesville on Saturday night.

Representing the University of Alabama, Orogot clinched the gold in the men's 200-meter dash with a blistering time of 19.75 seconds, marking a personal best for the junior athlete.

Orogot's remarkable performance not only secured him the top spot in the event but also catapulted him to an NCAA-leading time, placing him among the elite ranks of collegiate history with the third-fastest time ever recorded.

In addition to his stellar achievement, Orogot's feat set multiple records, including the Ugandan national record and the East African record.

Furthermore, his remarkable display of speed also established a new meet record and a University of Alabama school record.

But Orogot's dominance didn't stop at the 200m distance. He showcased his versatility and speed by finishing fifth in the men's 100-meter dash with an impressive time of 10.06 seconds, which also stands as the fourth-fastest time in the school's history.

Orogot is set to continue his pursuit of excellence as he gears up for the 2024 NCAA Outdoor East Preliminaries scheduled to take place from May 22-25 in Lexington, Kentucky.
