Championing Sustainability and Carbon Reduction

Ethiopian Airlines has placed sustainability at the center of its operations through major investments in modern fuel-efficient aircraft such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A350, and Boeing 737 MAX, significantly cutting fuel burn and carbon emissions per passenger.

The airline also implements carbon offset programs, optimized flight planning, reduced single-use plastics on board, green ground operations, and responsible waste management systems. Energy efficiency at its hubs, especially at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, further underscores its strong climate action posture in Africa’s aviation sector.

Ethiopian Airlines remains the backbone of African air connectivity, serving tourism, trade, cargo logistics, humanitarian missions, and diaspora movements.
