Kyabazinga of Busoga to Lead This Year’s Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge
The Ministry of Busoga Tourism and Heritage, led by Owekitibwa Hellen Namutamba has announced this year’s edition of Kagulu Rock Climbing amidst the picturesque landscapes of Buyende District, Busoga Kingdom.
In a bid to boost tourism, His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV is expected to be the Chief Climber of the 3600 feet Kagulu Rock slated for 26th August 2023
The event will embrace the theme of "Creating employment through Digital Tourism," highlighting the impact, values, importance, and needs of this transformative approach.
During the presser, Namutamba unveiled the Busoga Tourism Ambassador “Acidic Vokoz” who is to promote Busoga Tourism Sites through Digital Art and Creativity.
Namutamba noted that the theme was based on the fact that a transformative approach to embracing a digital movement to promote tourism needed to be embraced so as to realize more tourist numbers
“Digital tourism is a beacon of hope, empowering local communities by generating sustainable employment opportunities. Through the Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge 2023, we aim to harness the potential of digital platforms to showcase our cultural heritage and natural wonders, creating a positive economic impact on the lives of our people.”
She added that, “By using digital channels, we can reach a global audience, fostering an appreciation for our traditions, history, and cultural treasures, fostering cross-cultural understanding and respect.”
She called upon all well-wishers, travel enthusiasts, mountain climbers and the people of Busoga to join the challenge happening this month.
