Its reported that after the visit by Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Rwanda took note of the issues raised and started a process to reopen the border at Katuna / Gatuna .

Days after the visit by Uganda’s Commander of Land Forces and President Museveni advisor on Special operations Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to Rwanda where he met with President Paul Kagame looks to have finally paid as the neighboring country is set to open the border that has been close since February 2019.

According to a statement issued by Rwanda Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the border will be reopening on Sunday Monday 31st 2022.

Its reported that after the visit by Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Rwanda took note of the issues raised and started a process to reopen the border at Katuna / Gatuna .

The statement indicates that both Uganda and Rwanda will put necessary measures at the border to facilitate the movement of goods and people in line with guidelines to manage the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

The statement indicate that Rwanda remains committed to resolve the pending issues between the two countries that will contribute to positively to the speedy normalisation of relations between Rwanda and Uganda.
