Uganda Wins Prestigious Destination Award at OTM 2026 in Mumbai
Uganda has been awarded the prestigious Best Exquisite Destination Award at the recently concluded Outbound Tourism Mart (OTM) 2026, held in Mumbai, India from February 5th to 7th. The recognition highlights Uganda’s growing reputation as a leading global tourism destination.
The OTM is regarded as one of Asia’s biggest and most influential travel trade exhibitions, bringing together approximately 50,000 travel enthusiasts, tour operators, and tourism stakeholders from over 60 countries. The event serves as a key platform for international tourism promotion, partnerships, and market expansion.
The award was received by Uganda’s High Commissioner to India, Ambassador Joyce Kikafunda, who represented the country at the event. Speaking during the ceremony, she noted that the success of Uganda’s showcase was a testament to the strong and synergistic collaboration among various stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Uganda’s growing international tourism recognition has been driven by several strategic efforts. These include expanding market reach into Asian and Australian tourism markets, as well as conservation successes such as the recent reintroduction of white rhinos to Ajai Wildlife Reserve, which has strengthened Uganda’s position as a premier wildlife tourism destination.
Tourism officials say the award further cements Uganda’s standing on the global tourism map and reflects the country’s commitment to sustainable tourism development, wildlife conservation, and international partnerships.
The recognition at OTM 2026 is expected to boost visitor confidence and increase tourist arrivals, especially from emerging markets in Asia and beyond.
