Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has this afternoon conveyed and offered his sincere condolences to his South African counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa over the death of Archbishop Desmond Mpilo Tutu.

“On behalf of the government and the people of Uganda we covey our sincere condolences and sympathies to the family of our liberation icon” he said in a tweet.

The Uganda President also praised Archbishop for his contribution and struggles against injustice and racial discrimination of the blacks in the apartheid regime and that he will always be remembered as one of the courageous and greatest leaders in South Africa.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu who was also a Nobel Peace prize laureate died on the 26th of December 2021 in Cape town South Africa in the early hours of the day.

Various Presidents and Clergy across the world are still pouring in condolences of one of Africa’s longest serving pan Africanist and anti apartheid icon.

In Cape town, people are still flocking at the St. George’s Cathedral to pay their last respects to who was a friend to many.

The official interfaith memorial service by the city of Cape town is situated to take place on Wednesday at the city hall and according to Micheal Weeder the Cathedral dean the congregation will pay their general respects on Friday when the body will lie in state at the Cathedral.

According to the dean, they had already engaged in a discussion with the Archbishop about his burial and they agreed that he will be cremated and his ash will be placed in the Cathedral.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday January 2nd and only 100 people will be allowed according to the National State of Disaster covid19 regulations.
