Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon Receives Prestigious Certification from World Athletics
Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon has been officially certified by the prestigious World Athletics Federation, becoming the sole Ugandan marathon to attain this elite status.
With its course now globally recognized, the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon holds the distinction of being a qualifying event for major international races, including the Olympics.
This milestone follows an extensive certification process overseen by World Athletics, ensuring that the marathon's course meets rigorous standards of accuracy and fairness. Spearheading this endeavor was Garvin Ashworth, a seasoned route measurer renowned for his expertise and precision.
The certification not only enhances the prestige of the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon but also positions Uganda as a formidable contender in the global athletics arena.
Amos Wekesa, Director Great Lakes Safaris and leader of the Tusker Lite marathon team, expressed his excitement at the achievement, emphasizing its significance for Ugandan athletes.
"This certification elevates our marathon to international prominence, providing our athletes with a platform to showcase their talent on a global scale," remarked Wekesa.
Roy Tumwizere, the Tusker Lite brand representative, echoed Wekesa's sentiments, highlighting the doors that this certification opens for Ugandan athletes.
"We are immensely proud to have our marathon recognized by World Athletics," said Tumwizere. "This certification not only reflects the high standards of our event but also offers our athletes the opportunity to compete against the best in the world."
This year's edition is scheduled for Saturday, 24th August 2024.
