The Governor of the Bank of Uganda Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile died on the morning of January 23, 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya aged 72.
Prof. Mutebile served as Governor and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Uganda from 2001 till the time of his death in 2022.
It should be noted that the speaker of Parliament of Uganda, Anita Anet Among had made a plea to have his residence retained by the family members, this however never settled in well with some members of parliament and some public members.
