Uganda Airlines Temporary Acquires A320 Aircraft to Enhance Operational Efficiency

Uganda Airlines, the national carrier of Uganda, has taken a strategic step to enhance its operational efficiency by signing a short-term lease agreement with Global Airlines, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This move comes as part of Uganda Airlines' efforts to address operational challenges caused by scheduled maintenance of some of its aircraft.

The lease agreement includes an A320 mid-range aircraft, acquired on a wet lease basis, which will complement Uganda Airlines' existing fleet of CRJ and A330 aircraft.

This additional aircraft, along with its pilots and cabin crew, will play a crucial role in maintaining schedule integrity during the maintenance period of the regional fleet.

Ms. Jenifer Bamuturaki, Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines, emphasized the significance of this partnership with Global Airlines in addressing operational challenges and meeting growing demand on key routes.

She stated, "This lease would also help to resolve operational challenges on routes like Johannesburg and Kinshasa, where we have been unable to operate efficiently due to capacity limitations and augment operations on services to Nairobi and Lagos."

The newly leased A320 aircraft boasts a two-class cabin configuration, with 12 business class and 138 economy seats, offering passengers increased comfort and capacity.

The aircraft also provides enhanced capacity for passenger baggage and cargo.

Bamuturaki extended an invitation to both the traveling public and the business community to leverage the increased capacity offered by the leased aircraft.

"We therefore invite the travelling public and the business community to take advantage of the increased capacity." She said.
