Lt. Gen. Elwelu Advocates for African Integration to Address Continental Challenges

Lieutenant General Peter Elwelu, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, has underscored the imperative of African integration in confronting the myriad challenges facing the continent.
Lt. Gen. Elwelu emphasized the significance of regional integration during an engagement with a delegation comprising students and faculty members from the Kenya Defence Forces Defence Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) – Karen, Course 39-2023/24.
The interface took place at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters in Mbuya, Uganda.
Highlighting Africa's vast array of resources, both natural and human, Lt. Gen. Elwelu emphasized that regional integration is paramount for achieving regional security, which in turn is crucial for the prosperity of Africa's populace.
He also emphasized the longstanding cordial relationship between Uganda and Kenya, "Both nations share a common goal of ensuring peace, stability, and socio-economic transformation for their citizens."
Colonel Stephen Sabila Kapkory, the head of the Kenya Defence Forces delegation, articulated that their visit aimed to provide students with insights into military and security operations.
The event also saw the presence of key military figures including Brigadier General James Kinalwa, Chief of Personnel and Administration, Brigadier General Godwin Karugaba, Chief of Logistics and Engineering, Brigadier General Fred Twinamasiko, Brigadier General Abdul Rugumayo, and senior UPDF officers.
