The ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities has confirmed The Wildlife Concert featuring Eddy Kenzo as a pre-activity for the Wildlife Day set to happen early next month.

The International World wildlife day is celebrated on 3rd March every year. It was declared on the 20th December, 2013 during the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

The Wildlife Concert featuring Grammy Nominee Eddy Kenzo will take place on the eve of the International World Wildlife Day in Kyenjojo, on 2nd March.

While addressing the media, the minister of Tourism, wildlife and antiquities, Rtd. Col. Tom Butime highlighted the opportunity this day presents to Uganda.

"The occasion presents an opportunity to share efforts being made by the Government to protect and replenish the Country's fauna and flora for the benefit of Ugandans and the global community. My Ministry will coordinate the national celebrations on behalf of the Ugandan Government."

On behalf of Africa Tourism and Environment Initiatives (ATEI) the brainchild of the Wildlife Concerts, team leader Bismac Amumpaire highlighted the need for more conservation journalists.

"Despite extensive efforts, only 7% of journalists in Uganda concentrate on conservation and environmental protection. Despite notable progress in engaging communities with conservation efforts, there remains a need to boost these numbers through innovative approaches."

He added that, "Music has the potential to raise conservation awareness by reaching larger audiences, and musicians can serve as effective ambassadors for conservation efforts."
